On June 7, 2018 at 4:00 pm PDT, the nomination period for Regional Chief candidates closed. Crystal Trudeau, Chief Electoral Officer, issued following statement to Yukon First Nations leadership with the nomination results:
I was appointed Electoral Officer for the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) – Yukon Regional Chief election to be held at Mayo, Yukon (Na-Cho Nyak Dun Traditional Territory) on June 28, 2018.
As per the Assembly of First Nations – Yukon Regional Chief Election Rules and Procedures, nominations for the position of AFN – Yukon Regional Chief closed at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on June 7, 2018. I write to inform you of the candidates who have submitted completed nominations by the deadline.
The candidates nominated for AFN – Yukon Regional Chief are:
As only one candidate has been nominated for the position, I declare that Kluane Adamek has been elected as Yukon Regional Chief by acclamation. These results were verified in the presence of the Chair of the Election Oversight Committee.
Per AFN Yukon Regional Election Rules, the newly elected Regional Chief shall be sworn in at the AFN Yukon First Nations Annual Summit on June 28, 2018.
